Steeplecab #298 turns 100 this year!

Steeplecab electric locomotive #298 was built brand new for the Yakima Valley Transportation Company by the General Electric Company in September of 1922. It served the railroad as their primary locomotive for 63 years until the railroad ceased freight operations in 1985.

While 298 is operable today, one its motors is in need of rebuilding, and that alone is estimated at $25,000 to $35,000. We are raising funds to repair the motor so that the 298 will once again be able to pull freight cars up Pine Street and to Selah.
